This is an idea I got from my principal - Christa Healy. Each week, the students are challenged to earn parts of a whole prize. This is a month long challenge (or change as you see fit).
For example - if you are going to have a Sundae Party:
Week 1 - Students have to earn the bowl
Week 2 - Students have to earn the spoon
Week 3 - Students earn ice cream
Week 4 - Topping
Final/Bonus - Sprinkels
Of course - if they didn't meet the goal for week 1 - then they would have to earn the bowl in week 2. The sad part - there will be times in which a student might just have a bowl... hopefully they will try harder next time!
In the Classroom
I enjoy teaching and wanted to put something together to share tips and ideas with other teachers out there. Behavior management is my favorite area, so you will see a lot of posts with that in mind - but I would love to add more instructional tips as well! If you would like for me to add something you have done and would like to share, please email it to me (and I will be sure to give you credit!)!!! ashleyaper@live.com

Fuzzy Beads!
Each of my students have a fuzzy (pipe cleaner) hanging from their desks. I bought a container of beads from Wal-Mart (as well as the fuzzies). When students work hard, make good choices, or meet a challenge I have set for them, they earn beads. My reward system for the beads are:
10 beads - 5 M/M's
20 beads - 10 M/M's
30 beads - Small prize box, they get to take the fuzzy home with the beads, and a certificate!
My students have a hard time visualizing where they are and where the rewards are - so I put a number line up, had them color little people, and they move their person as they count beads each day after packing up!!!

Compliment Chain
I came across this idea from somewhere online, but have changed it a little bit. Make a paper chain - starting from the ceiling. Each time a TEACHER or STAFF member gives you a compliment from one of your students, add a chain. Once the chain hits the floor - REWARD! Make sure to tell your fellow teachers/staff what's going on so they know to be looking and letting you know. Also - make sure to tell your students ASKING for compliments is not part of the fun and will be be awarded a chain!
